Welcome and thank you for taking the time to visit this blog!

I hope the content makes a difference in how you think about project management. If so, subscribe to receive the monthly posts that come out! Let's keep this inspiring journey going together!

For me, project managers…

  • … are illuminators of truth and reality
  • mobilize people together and hold them accountable
  • … are problem solvers that get to the root of the problem
  • … have a plan for everything!!

They are also there to help mitigate risk, reduce costs, and deliver on time. So the question is HOW does a project manager do all this? What are those nitty-gritty details that make up those big concepts?

When I looked online to find out how and when to use certain project management concepts, all the material I found felt very theoretical - like PMBOK / Scrum Alliance / <insert your methodology governance body or textbook here> theoretical. I needed more examples and use cases, so I decided to create a blog that adds tangible depth to the concepts and frameworks project managers use all the time.

For instance, status reports are a project management staple and many websites and tools can guide you to write good status reports. However, the contextual information is usually missing from the examples. Information that can provide clues by asking questions such as:

  • Who reads the status reports?
  • What’s the value of sending them out?
  • How often should you send them out?
  • When are status reports needed or not needed?

Hopefully, these articles can help answer some of these contextual unknowns with examples and content that can be used for your projects. These articles are NOT going to be short-form posts normally seen in blogs - they are detailed and in-depth. It's just how my brain works!

Audience for the Blog

  • Junior to intermediate project managers in the Information Technology (IT) / Software space in medium to large businesses (start-up to small businesses will likely lack, for good reason, the structure that I outline in this blog)
  • Tech parents who might want to have a little chuckle or learn from my mistakes around project managing their home life
  • Anyone who wants to learn about how a project manager might help their organization

Site Improvements and Feedback

This site is being launched as a Minimal Viable Product (MVP), and I will be iterating as I go (just like in Agile). Therefore, expect things to be rough around the edges. Please email me directly if you see any edges that need smoothing. I am learning about this space and changing as I go. The feedback received will be tracked, prioritized, actioned, and, most importantly, valued. Thank you so much for taking the time to read and find improvements - I truly appreciate you!
